We can proudly say that 2024 has been a successful year for ASCLS. Together with you, we have achieved all the goals we planned for 2024. Throughout the year, in addition to webinars and face-to-face meetings on various current topics, our Scientific Society successfully organized two major congresses.

From May 2-4, 2024, the 2nd International Azerbaijan Laboratory Medicine Congress & Lab Expo (AZLTK & LAB EXPO 2024) was held at the Baku Fairmont Hotel Flame Towers with over 600 participants. The motto of the event was “For Green and Sustainable Laboratories in the Year of Solidarity for a Green World…” This theme was chosen in alignment with the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, declaring 2024 as the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World,” and to contribute to the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) held in Azerbaijan. Additionally, we aimed to utilize this awareness-raising opportunity to discuss important steps under the European Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (EFLM) project on “Green and Sustainable Laboratories.” The Lab Expo, now a tradition, brought together representatives of 30 global laboratory medicine industry leaders and numerous laboratory medicine professionals. This exhibition created new opportunities and opened new horizons for participating companies, and we believe it will significantly boost the import of modern laboratory medicine technologies into our country.

At the end of the year, we successfully organized the first “Congress on Innovations in Transplantation, Immunology, and Genetics” in our country with the Turkish Society of Transplantation Immunology and Genetics and the Azerbaijan Society of Internal Medicine, held at the Yeni Klinika in Baku with over 200 participants. This Congress aimed to bring laboratory specialists together with clinicians and researchers to discuss the latest immunological and immunogenetic developments in solid organ and stem cell/bone marrow transplantation, their clinical impact, technical details, and existing problems and solutions.

As a full member of IFCC and EFLM, ASCLS has placed great importance on international relations and conducted targeted activities. As a result of these efforts, we received the proud news that AZKLMİB members are eligible to apply for scholarships dedicated to Prof. Vik Blaton by EFLM.

The successful implementation of the Compulsory Medical Insurance model in the Republic of Azerbaijan has significantly increased the demand for laboratory medicine. This requires ASCLS to take significant steps and carry out targeted activities in terms of continuous medical education for its members. The many thank-you letters from our members expressing their satisfaction motivate us and inspire us to work with even greater determination and enthusiasm. With the responsibility of achieving our goals and the inspiration we receive from our members, we are preparing with great enthusiasm and effort for our 3rd international congress.

We are pleased to announce that the 3rd International Azerbaijan Laboratory Medicine Congress & Lab Expo (AZLTK & LAB EXPO 2025) will be held from May 1-3, 2025, at the Baku Marriott Hotel Boulevard.

This year’s congress will be held under the motto “For a Sovereign Azerbaijan!”

In 2025, the 30th anniversary of the adoption of our Constitution and the 5th anniversary of the victory in the Patriotic War will be commemorated. With the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated December 28, 2024, declaring 2025 as the “Year of Constitution and Sovereignty,” we recognize the responsibility on our shoulders and declare that we, as specialists in the field of laboratory medicine, will unite all our efforts for the sovereign and powerful healthcare of Azerbaijan.

The Scientific Panels of the 3rd International Azerbaijan Laboratory Medicine Congress & Lab Expo will be organized with the support and direct participation of Turkey’s KBUD and KLİMUD associations, as well as the international and European federations to which we are members. In this Congress, the memory of prominent scientists who have contributed significantly to the development of laboratory medicine in Azerbaijan will not be forgotten, and named awards will be established to support the scientific works of our young professionals. We expect our young professionals to actively participate in the congress with their scientific abstracts.
